Opaque, Porous, Clear or Nonwoven
Whether it is opaque or transparent, porous or nonwoven, the ARIS Web Position Sensor can accurately detect the position of the web edge without the need for calibration. The plug-and-play sensor technology can detect even the most transparent web accurately. The infrared sensor option is the ideal solution for all your web edge sensing needs.
Recommend using infrared sensors for edge detection, even though white light and uv sensors can be used in special applications
UV Mark Detection
Registration Mark or Sprayed Mark
With UV LED option ARIS WPS can be used to detect marks from UV fluorescent ink/dye. These marks can be printed registration marks or spayed marks that fluorescence under UV light. The sensor will automatically adapt and adjust for the condition and provide a digital high output whenever a mark is seen.

Contrasting marks such as registration marks can be detected with the ARIS Web Position Sensor when white light LED option is chosen. The contrasting marks can be a light mark on a dark background or dark mark on a light background. The sensor will automatically adapt and adjust for the condition and provide a digital high output whenever a mark is seen.
String Position Sensing
String or Thread or Object Position Detection
The highly accurate sensor technology also enables detection of very thin object such as a string or a thread. The position of the string can be accurately measured with high precision with a resolution of 0.0635 mm or 0.125 mm. The minimum thickness of the string/thread that the sensor can detect is about 0.5 mm.

Detection of Contrasts on a Web
The ARIS Web Position Sensor not only detects the edge position but also the position of a contrasting edge on a web material. White light LED is used for this option. The contrast can be a transition from light to dark or dark to light. The sensor automatically detects the position of the contrast transition
